Police: Suspects suffer multiple gunshot wounds after failed home invasion attempt

Early Friday morning the Springfield Police Department (SPD) responded to an attempted home invasion in the 400 Block of South 51st Place.

SPD responded to the scene at 1:51 a.m. Officials say the victim reported that two suspects used force to break down the front door of the home; both suspects were armed according to authorities.

According to officials, the victim told police he was armed with his own weapon and fired multiple rounds at the suspects. Police would later find out that both suspects suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

The suspects, identified as Gregory Robinson (33) and Christopher Alexander (24), both from Portland, fled the area in a vehicle.

SPD says, Robinson and Alexander were quickly located by patrol officers and taken into custody. Both were transported to a local hospital to be treated for their gunshot wounds, once they are released they will be lodged on the following charges:

Robinson's Charges

  • Robbery I
  • Burglary I
  • Unlawful Use of a Weapon

Alexander's Charges

  • Robbery I
  • Burglary I
  • Unlawful Use of a Weapon
  • Unlawful Possession of Body Armor

Detectives were called to the scene and will be assisting authorities with the on-going investigation. SPD asks anyone with information or video surveillance regarding this incident to contact them at 541-726-3721.
