In an unexpected move, Timbers Head Coach Caleb Porter will be leaving his role in Portland, according to several reports that surfaced Thursday evening.

According to sources with the Associated Press, Porter "has parted ways with the Portland Timbers."

The Timbers finished this season at the top of the Western Conference with a record of 15-11-8. They fell in the conference semifinals with a 2-1 loss to the Houston Dynamo.

Porter signed a long-term contract with the Timbers in early 2016 after leading Portland to a championship victory ā€“ the first MLS Cup win for the franchise.

His total record with the Timbers was 60-50-52.

The team has yet to put out an official statement on the reasons for why Porter will be leaving.
