Dale Earnhardt: Remembering a NASCAR legend 15 years after death
February 18, 2016 marks 15 years since the death of NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt.
Earnhardt was better known as "The Intimidator" for his aggressive driving style.
He was from Kannapolis, North Carolina. Beginning in his late teens, Earnhardt raced on local tracks around North Carolina until he was offered his first full-time ride in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series in 1979.
Earnhardt won a total of 76 Winston Cup races over the course of his career, including one Daytona 500 victory in 1998.
He died in the Daytona 500 race on February 18, 2001. He was 49 years old.
