Ashland High School senior Rox Rogers has won a state championship on the tennis court, however, it was a part of a 'doubles' team with then-senior standout Kai Weston two years ago.

As a junior, Rogers fell in the 5A final to earn runner-up.

"I've got to stay mentally tough," Rogers said heading into the opening round on Thursday. "Everybody in the tournament is super good, everyone deserves to be there."

Rogers will be the top-seeded competitor in the 5A tournament, which will play it's first two days at Portland Tennis Center.

"I just have to go in with the mentality that I have to play everybody real and take everything really seriously or otherwise I'm going to be knocked out," Rogers said.

Rogers' younger brother will be joining him at the state championships. He'll be trying to win another 'doubles' title in the Rogers family name.
