4th Annual Max King Invitational
CENTRAL POINT, Ore. —
Nearly 700 middle school and high school runners took part in the 4th annual Max King Invitational.
King, an accomplished ultra-marathoner and world champion led the high school varsity girls race with the starting gun.
Emma Schmerbach of South Medford High School won the 5000 meter varsity high school girls race. Ashland won the girls varsity team portion.
Crater High School's Andy Monroe (1), Jantz Tostenson (2) and Derek Tripp (3) finished ahead of the pack as the Comets also won the boys varsity team portion.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Crater girls team work pink colored running tops while the boys team wore pink bananas.
