Central Point's own Mike 'White Delight' Wilson has boxed and promoted his own professional events since 2009.

Wilson, 19-0 (8 KO's), has been working with the same trainer Jimmy Pedrojetti for most of his career and the two have known each other for over 20 years.

“I remember sitting down with Mike and saying, when he was 15-16, you can go a long way in boxing but you have to stay focused," Pedrojetti said.

35-year-old Wilson has spent most of his professional career promoting his own pro fights based out of southern Oregon with the 'Rogue Valley Rumble' events, but for the last few years, Wilson and his team have been waiting for 'the one'.

“I figured it would come in due time, and once we got the phone call, I called Jimmy right away I just ecstatic," Wilson said. "This is what we’ve been waiting for.”

On November 24, Wilson will take the international stage for just the second time in his pro career. He's headed to Monaco to fight for a WBA Cruiserweight Title against Super Champion Denis Lebedev, 31-2 (23 KO's).

"Did I think this was going to come along? You know, to be honest no, not the title shot," Pedrojetti joked. "But did I think a big pay-day would come along? Yeah, I definitely thought it was warranted that he’s (Wilson) in the top-12 in the world, that he’s that type of fighter that would warrant a bigger money fight.”

“This is a huge deal," Wilson said about his title fight. "To be the champion of the world and from right here out of a small town, you don’t really see things like that coming out of a small towns. This is my roots right here, proud, proud southern Oregonian and it would mean the world to me to bring that title back here.”

You can watch the event at Chadwick's Sports Bar at the Rogue Regency Inn & Suites in Medford from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
